Can I use a filter or strainer when racking?Updated a year ago
No, because the particles inside your wine are microscopic, and they will escape through filters — even coffee filters or cheese cloth. Additionally, filters will aerate your wine, which isn’t ideal if you’re looking to store your wine for the long term.
It’s better to keep it simple and sweet — pour very slowly, and discard the sediment and cloudy juice when you get to the bottom.
If you don't want to pour your wine, you can invest in an auto-siphon to rack your wine as well. You can get one on Amazon or at a local homebrewing shop.
